Jeremy Clarkson Begs for a Paykan!

It's the most widely watched factual TV program in the world, according to Guinness World Records Top Gear is watched in 214 territories, and dubbed into eight languages. One of the latest countries to succumb to its charms is, unexpectedly, Iran.

Recently on BBC's The Fifth Floor program Jeremy Clarkson met his Iranian voice Mozaffar Shafeie. And of course Paykan in all its glory came up during the conversation.

You can listen to its entirely here: The Persian Voice of Jeremy Clarkson Read the BBC article Top Gear in Iran: Why do Iranians love Jeremy Clarkson? and also watch the interview here on BBCPersian.

For heaven's sake give the man a Paykan to drive! ;@

250 GTO

Who knew one day I be featuring a 250 GTO in this blog! :) My dear friend David dug out this old slide recently which was taken with his trusty Kodak Instamatic about March 78 at Watford Gap service station on the M1 of a Singer Gazelle slumming it with some form of Italian exotic with a dented front wing.

The Ferrari 250 GTO is actually Nick Mason's car (chassis #3757LM), presumably bought with all the royalties from The Dark Side of the Moon, that is a genuine registration by the way. It's one of three 330GTO's with a 4 liter engine instead of the usual 3 liter, externally identical apart from a bigger bonnet bulge.

Thanks for the brilliant photo Dave!...
