Greedy Old Car

J Reg. (1 August 1970 – 31 July 1971) Hillman Hunter pictured in Achterneed, Scotland.

Here is a bit more about the car from Old Bagpuss: "If ever a car was a bit warped then this was it. It had the uncanny knack of detecting when you had a bit of money and promptly refused to start until you spent the lot on IT. I don't miss it a bit........note cheap black & white film due to extreme poverty caused by GREEDY OLD CAR."

I guess somebody wasn't happy with the Hunter! :@

Under The Hammer

It is believed that this Paykan was a gift to Nicolae CeauČ™escu from the Shah of Iran. It went under the hammer at an auction house in Romania (Artmark) yesterday. Don't have any information on the final sale price as of yet. The car has done only 2,000 Kilometer, for more photos please check out my other post here.

Note: I've noticed from my previous post that the wood-dash must have been replaced in the above photos due to lighter color wood material.

Update: The car was sold for € 37.000 !

Louwman Museum

My friend Seth and his family just recently finished another road trip vacation with an epic drive through Holland & Germany with his Hillman Minx. They visited the amazing Louwman Museum, if you arrive in a car older than 40 years then you can park by the front door rather than in the regular car park round the back!...
Great Job Seth!...

Mediterranean Gazelle

Another rare sighting, according to Eddie (CarSpottingSweden) this is the only surviving Singer Gazelle in Matla. And the gentlemen behind the boat is the original owner.

Paykan Rhytidectomy (69-71)

These photos are the most important documents I have came across since the creation of this blog 5 years ago! They are courtesy of Matthew Ollman over at the Rootes Archive Center, who has spent a lot of time searching through and scanning them for me.

They were found among negatives dated between 1969-1971, so the exact date is not known. The biggest criticism toward Paykan was lack of major updates during it's 38 years production, and these photos clearly shows that Chrysler/Rootes with probable request of IranNational were looking into facelifting the Paykan as early as four years into production.

There are lots of different badges on these mock-up models. Front grille says Humber, rear wings says Plymouth, front wings says New Yorker and at the back says Gran Coupe. Plus some illegible Farsi fonts on the sketches. but apparently these were put on to throw off speculations about the true purpose of these models.

Blue Machine Update#2

I received an email from Shelley saying that NUL 969L used to belong to her husband back in 1978! Thanks Shelly for sending me the photo, I'm sure that Duncan (current owner) would really appreciate this. Duncan presently is real busy restoring this beautiful Blue Machine. I wish him the best of luck!...
