Kerkyra Humber

One of my favorite photos I have received so far. This Humber Sceptre was spotted by my friend Kamshots at Kerkyra or known in English as Corfu. It is like a scene from a neorealism movie-set, isn't it?

Amendment: This car most likely is a Sunbeam Sceptre, since Rootes used the Humber brand only in the UK.

Update to the Amendment: It turned out that Rootes did use the Humber name in southern Europe, here is an example of LHD Humber Sceptre in Spain.

Paykan Lowrider #9 (UK Edition)

Please don't let this post confuse you. Even though this is a Hillman Hunter located in the UK, but this one falls into my "Paykan Lowriders" category. It's Iranian owner has just so exquisitely transformed this Hunter into a Paykan, I mean even up to changing the bumpers with the Paykan's square ones, wow!

What I really would love to see though, is the reaction of all those pensioners to this car at the next Rootes gathering. Hopefully he can explain to them why Her Majesty's Crown is getting so dangerously close to the The Bald Eagle! ;)

More Burgundy

I Have featured this amazing looking Paykan with basket weaves wheels before. This car is like a time capsule, it has all the correct badges and trim, just like how it left the IranNational factory before the Revolution.

The badge on the front door says Paykan, which means Arrow in Farsi. You non Farsi speakers, I guess you probably figured it out by yourself, didn't you? There is an arrow going right through it! :) After the 1979 revolution Paykans got de-contented, they lost most of their chrome and embellishments, so the older models are desirable and a clean one like this is very hard to find.

Ah... forgot to mention that the "Persian Rug" floor mats were not factory option. ;)

Beige Wagon

Very clean example of MKI Hunter wagon, somewhere in the UK. This car reminds me of my Uncle's beige Paykan wagon he used to have in Iran. My cousin and I used to get in the back and enjoy getting disorientated by going forward backwards. I can still remember the car's horrendous rattles, which mainly came from the tailgate, it was so loose I was worried it could fly off at any moment and would leave my cousin and I clinging to nothing but the carpet back there, imagine that! ;)

Super Interior

Hunter MkI dash has been my favorite among the Hunter range, no wonder Rootes also used it on the posh Humber Sceptre. I mean just look at this interior, isn't it so inviting?... ;)

 Correction: Humber Sceptre dash is unique.

Hunter Topaz

I believe Hunter Topaz trim level was introduced in 1975 in very limited numbers. I'm not sure how many of them are still around.
Why you should have bought a Topaz? I mean how could you have turned down Fawn Brushed Vinyl Seats?... ;)

Don't ask me how this Hunter GLS has turned Pink! Maybe the owner thought he needed to somehow balance the viciousness of the 93Hp engine ;) Or was this factory color from Rootes?
