GB2Aus Final Update!

John & Barry Made it! The epic journey is over! They have made it to Sydney crossing the bridge at around 4.00pm on Sunday 18 July 2010 having travelled nearly 15.000 miles since leaving the Ace Cafe in London, UK. The overall trip has taken 113 days to complete.

My sincere Congratulations goes to both of them! Another magnificent achievement for the mighty Hunter!

GB2Aus Update#3

GB2Aus Update#2

What a result!!!... My very good friends Sina & Sohrab got a chance to spend an entire evening with John & Barry in Tehran! I received these pictures from them yesterday, they had a great time together discussing many things. For dinner they went for some famous Kababs also! Yummy stuff! ;) It is great to see their Hunter made it all the way to Tehran, and I wish John and Barry lots of luck for the remainder of their Journey all the way to Australia!...

I had an email from John & Barry, they are in Turkey now, and getting ready to cross the border into Iran this weekend! They had to stiffen the rear leaf-springs somewhere in Italy, but except that their 1968 London to Sydney Hillman Hunter replica is running like a champ!...

BREAKING NEWS!!!...

I never thought anybody would dare to attempt this again, I mean who would be crazy enough these days to drive from London to Sydney in a Hillman Hunter?! But this coming March, John Lewis & Barry Hawgood are going to do exactly that! and I can not be any more excited about this news and their EPIC journey! It has been 42 years since Andrew Cowan won the Legendary 1968 London to Sydney Rally, and that has been the inspiration for John & Barry to create this amazing Andrew Cowan Hunter replica. I can't wait to hear their reaction when they are traveling though Iran among all those Paykans! :)
