Yellow Husky

Another example of the endangered Dodge Husky. This was a South African model only, and the only pick up version from the Arrow series apart from the Paykan Pick-Up of course. In comparison to the Paykan version, it has thicker B-pillars, body-side along follows the Arrow sedan character lines, has a different back window, rear door and taillights  This is the second example that I have found so far, for more info please visit my other post here.

Marvin's Vogue

This is Marvin's 1972 Hillman Vogue from Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Remember our French Connection?

Marvin said: "the car runs like a dream, and even puts my wife to sleep", so I asked him what you mean by that!?... he said: "cause of its smooth ride". Lol!!!... :)
Except the 15" wheels and the steering wheels, the rest of the car is stock with the Peugeot 404 engine.

The French Connection

In the world of Arrow series it can't get anymore bizarre than this! Instead of using the Rootes 1725cc engine Chrysler installed the 1600 from the Peugeot 404 in order to comply with local content requirements in South Africa (other reports suggests they used the 2.0L engine from the Peugeot 504 on post 74 models).

According to the advert they had three model range: Hunter, Vogue & Safari. The above 1972 Hillman Vogue example was recently sold in Cape Town.

Endangered Husky

I have been desperately trying to find more information about this South African creature, so far the only piece of information available was the above advert. But now finally we can take a closer look at one example here at: gumtree.co.za.

So it turns out that Iran wasn't the only country blessed with the pick-up version of Arrow, the mighty Paykan Pick-Up, the South Africans had their own version called: Dodge Husky! In comparison to the Paykan version, it has thicker B-pillars and the body-side follows the Hunter sedan character lines. The above car has been modified obviously, but it is very exciting to know that at least one example is in running order over there! :)

Hillman Vogue

This is an advert for the Australian version of Hillman Hunter, called Hillman Arrow.

Oct12th 2011 Update: This advert is actually for the South African version of the Rootes Arrow series. It shows the top of the rang Hillman Vogue version, they also sold Hillman Hunter, and Hillman Safari versions. For more details check this post.
