Hmmm.... Well yes, you really don't want be in one of them heading toward a hard object. We are talking about a mid 60s body construction; there was no concern for safety back then.


  1. An interesting Rootes group fact: The Hillman Avenger was one of the first cars designed with crumple zones for passenger protection. In fact the Avenger was one of the first cars to have a bodyshell designed with the aid of computers

    Yes indeed the Avenger was, but not the Hunter! I mean for modern standards, not even the Avenger could be comparable. Thanks for leaving a comment on such an old post though!
